Changes From the Great Depression
The government now took an active role in helping it's citizens. This was because of the election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt instead of Herbert Hoover, switching the government's belief to direct relief.
Core American Values
Nationalism: Roosevelt's changes made American people more proud of their country and hopeful for the future.
Perseverance: Americans voted for FDR in hopes of change, but they knew it would take hard work to get out of. The government helped these people survive by creating jobs for them with the CCC and the Wagner Act.
Adaptability: The government made new policies to avoid total disaster while minimizing debt. An example of this would be the 21st Amendment which repealed the 18th Amendment. This made the selling of alcohol legal again, and therefore taxable by the government.
